Back to the Pre-Existin' Condition Blues

Got my cough in '91
in the purple desert sun
Breathin' sandstorm in my lungs
Went into town...but they turned me down
What kinda thing is this I cried
for my cough I been denied
Objectified

I know a guy named Catman Luce
He ain't makin' no excuse
Told his insurance man the truth
Blood pressure's high...but they passed him by
Left that man without no pride
Health care left him sick inside
Classified

Chorus: You know we gotta make a change
Our values are deranged
Body & soul has been has been estranged
Now we got the blues...
We've got the pre-existin' condition blues

Solo

Luce & me we're not alone
millions more are on the phone
Hearin nothin' can be done
It just ain't fair...They call this health care
The system sure ain't on our side
Old folks suffer and children died
Unindemnified

Made a mess of what's called carin'
Took the word & made it swearin'
Gotta lose these blues we're sharin'
Yeah, it's up to you...what you gonna do?
So far solutions only lied
left us with no place to hide
Unsatisfied

Chorus: You know it's time we make a change
Our values are deranged
Body & soul has been estranged
Now we got the blues...
We've got the pre-existin' condition blues.
