President Clinton speaks in front of Kira’s 10 foot (8) photographs depicting health care issues on HBO and CNN.
A Matriot’s Dream: Health Care for All” exhibition and website helped support changes in health care reform in Washington DC, and other sites.
Creative Writing students at CSUMB worked with Kira and faculty to create Ezines of their work witnessing social issues. They used Kira’s image on the poster and learned Visual Literacy from her lectures.

Kira’s body shields, titled “One out of Eight,” plus a 20 minute video were commissioned by the Monterey Museum of Art, the American Cancer Society, and the Breast Cancer Action Network. Stories on eight women artists/cancer survivors in a show “Making Strides: Journeys through Breast Cancer.
Kira co-taught a CSUMB class that produced a book, titled “Education as Emancipation: Women on Welfare Speak Out.” This work was presented nationally and was part of a website that Kira helped design www.welfarequilt.com. For more info see CSUMB site.
Kira designed the set for a CSUMB Theatre production to promote literacy, it was titled “Salt and Pepper.” In addition, her designs and images were used on posters and students built the set from her designs and with her direction.
